James A Tierney, age 74, of Aurora, IL died Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Foster G McGraw Hospital in Maywood, IL, He was born June 5, 1938 in Indiana, PA and raised in Niagra Falls, NY. The son of the late John and Helen nee Young Tierney.

He served his country honorably with the United States Marine Corp. Prior to his death he was involved in sales in the craft and hobby industry. 

He is survived by his loving wife of twenty five years, Kathleen M nee Cronister Tierney, devoted father to Lori (Bruce) Sprague, Lynda Rubio, Steve Tierney, Michelle (Russ) Paluch, Tracie Suter, Amy (Jace) Johnson; adoring grandfather of ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren; dear brother to Betty Jane Freebody, Robert Tierney and Jack Tierney; fond uncle and friend to many. He loved to play golf but lived for time spent with his grandchildren and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with a salute from fellow USMC veterans at 7:00 PM at the Dunn Family Funeral Home  in Oswego. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego. Burial of cremains with military honors will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elmwood, Ill.
