Election 2012: How Much Have Your Neighbors Given to Obama and Romney?

Search our interactive campaign contribution database.

Patch has created an interactive database so you can see how much your neighbors are donating to the presidential campaign—and to which candidate they’re writing their checks. We’ve included communities across Illinois, so if you want to see what the campaign contributions in nearby towns are like, go right ahead.

The information in the database was downloaded from the Federal Election Commission’s website. The data is based on quarterly reports, and is current through Aug. 31. The data will be updated in mid-October.

Yet another desperate attempt by the left leaning media to intimidate.

What exactly does that mean someguy?? Contribution information has ALWAYS been public, the media has nothing to do with it....and how does this intimidate? Does it mean you wouldn't want people know that you contributed to romney?? Why are you embarrassed? Please do tell what is so intimidating?

He is probably referring to people who have been harassed for their contributions. People will look up who donated to who, then protest or make prank calls or give people a hard time. I have seen it a few times/

Thank you, Michael.
I've been working, so I haven't been able to get back to Patch to respond until now.
You hit it on the head. Some people would like to support their candidate privately; at least with regard to allowing people like this to haunt them.

The day I find any politician, democrat or republican, that I trust, I will donate. Looks like my money is safe now.

Let's all see if we can find any "journalists" in this database. It oughtta be quite enlightening!

@genvieve...what kind of dumb comment is that. maybe during this election, the person she contributed to shares the same things that are important to her, that doesn't make you in the "tank" for anyone. what a completely moronic thing to say.

I do not see a comment by Genvieve. And there is really no reason to be so angry and call people names or insinuate they are dumb or stupid,

You don't see a comment from
Genevieve because there is no longer freedom of speech. Genevieve called one of the Patch editors out saying they couldn't be impartial in reporting the news for giving a large contribution to one of the candidates. BUT THE PATCH PUBLISHED this article and the information is public! ha ha so riduculous. Ah, just wish people wouldnt be so mean to each other. *sigh* Vote for who you want. Vet your candidates. Stop fighting each other and grow up. People who can't be adult about things shouldn't be voting anyway.

Yes, this information is certainly public, but readers have to assume that the Patch's reason to post this would be to TRY to increase their readership . It is a pretty partisan "news" site, and certainly runs from the most important local and statewide topics that negatively affect residents, like disability and pension abuse, school district management and fiscal disciplines, corruption, nepotism, cronyism etc.

Michael, you don't see her comment because most likely she deleted it. I did NOT call her any names or insinuate it. I said her comments were dumb, which they were. People can be very smart and still say or do really, really dumb things!

The Patch has just turned into a local online bulletin board.

People often say that comments made by a person with which they disagree are stupid or dumb because that's the only argument they have. Just sayin...

This is a repost

Doesn't mean anything to me when it comes to Federal elections...not while the Super PACs (with unlimited individual & corporate funding) are the force behind campaign spending

We should pay more attention to local politics. A president is only one man, without the support of congress he is almost moot! Congress can override many of his presidential powers if they so choose, and have the brass to do so!

We wish that people would pay closer attention to school boards, city, township, and county governments, since these effect them directly. Things as property taxes and how our money is being spent by our taxing bodies should be prime on everyones slate!

When is "my business" just mine anymore? Who the hell cares how much the guy next door gives. I wonder what would happen if someone published a list of how much the neighbors give to their church and what church it is. That info would cause an uproar and so should this political crap.
