No tickets issued in accident that sent man to Rush-Copley Medical Center.
An Oswego man walking across Route 71 near Washington Street was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center Tuesday morning after police said he was hit by a vehicle.
Oswego police said the 51-year-old was struck by a car driven by a 44-year-old Yorkville woman as he attempted to cross Route 71 at about 11:15 a.m.
The woman was turning on to westbound Route 71 from the strip mall on the south side of the road when the man attempted to cross the street from Liberty Court, police said.
A condition report on the man was not available, but Oswego police chief Dwight Baird said his injuries were not life-threatening.
No tickets have been issued to the driver or the pedestrian.

I agree 51 isn't old. Time for people to pay attenion. When you decide to walk and cross a street take the time to make sure it's safe to cross. If driving a car pay attention more to the road and not your cell phone, eating or looking everywhere else but in front of you. I'm not saying this driver is at fault of any of this, but in too many cases it's due to lack of care and attention. If she was making a turn, then she shouldn't have been going so fast that she couldn't stop in time. Mistakes do happen and both parties are lucky a death didn't happen.

How about just pay attention, period. Drive defensively all the time. As a pedestrian assume no one sees you. It's the law to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk - but don't assume they will, ever. Could make you paranoid but hey, at least you'd be as safe as possible.
