Oswego Resident Earns Eagle Scout Award Community Tree Planting

Evan LeClercq planted nine new trees at Prairie Point Park.

Prairie Point Park saw a lot of new growth on Oct. 20 as two different groups turned out to plant trees along the pathways.

One of those groups was led by 13-year-old Evan LeClercq, Village president Brian LeClercq’s son, for his Eagle Scout Project.

Evan said he has been in the Boy Scouts for over two and a half years and was going for his Eagle Scout through his service project.

“I felt this project appeared to be beneficial to the community and to the environment. The bike trails need more trees along them,” said Evan.

He worked alongside the Interact Group, an organization through Oswego schools that volunteer throughout the community.

Brian LeClercq said that their family has a long history in scouting, and that he, along with several of Evans uncles and grandfather are all Eagle scouts.
