Panera Bread Hosting Sandwich Showdown Contest

All entries must be in by Oct. 6.

Have you ever created that perfect, mouth-watering sandwich that makes every lunch break even better? No? Here’s your chance.

Panera Bread is giving sandwich enthusiasts a chance to bring their own ideas to life through Panera’s “Sandwich Showdown Contest.”

From now through Oct. 6, residents can submit their own sandwich recipes online using a list of Panera’s toppings and ingredients, which can be combined with its artisan and other specialty breads through an interactive sandwich builder.

Contestants will be asked to tell the story behind their submission and why they think it should be named the next legendary sandwich.

The winner gets bragging rights, both nationally and in Oswego, but will also take home a $10,000 cash prize, $500 worth of Panera gift cards, free bagels for a year and will have their sandwich on the menu for a limited time at participating cafes.

“With a Panera café right in the Oswego community, it’s possible that an Oswego resident’s favorite sandwich recipe could end up on the menu at Panera,” said Rachel Coleman, a communications partner of Panera.

Panera Bread will narrow submissions down to the top 20 and then the public is asked to vote for the winner online. The top four runner-ups will receive a $1,000 cash prize and a $150 Panera giftcard. The other remaining 15 finalists will receive a $150 Panera giftcard.

“This is a chance to put Oswego on the map as a sandwich hotspot!” said Coleman.

Time to get cooking.
