The weekend event included a rodeo, pony rides and more for Oswego's young cowboys and cowgirls.

It's a stampede of stick-horses!

The rodeo came to town on Sunday.

The Oswegoland Park District teamed up with Ellis House and Equestrian Center in Minooka for its annual Wild West Family Fun Day.

The family day included a series of fun activites that children might have encountered back in the wild west, including things like the moustace station, stomping rattlensakes, blowing out bottles in a saloon and digging for gold.

The highlight of the event was a stick horse rodeo for different age groups. Over 40 children participated and each had the opportunity to name their stick horse companion, with names like Horsey, Peanut, Speedy and Blue Beard being shouted as they rode around the arena.

“We’re very excited to host this event,” said Tina Villarreal, event coordinator at Ellis. “All the kids really seem to be enjoying the events.”

This was the fourth year that the Park District has put on Wild West Family Fun Day.

If you missed the fun, Ellis has a line-up of Friday Family Fun Nights with many of the same activities to enjoy.
