Photos: Celebration of Quilts on Main Street

Scenes from the first Celebration of Quilts festival on Saturday.

On Saturday, downtown was draped in finely crafted colors, as the first Celebration of Quilts festival took over Main Street.

Organized by the owners of on Main Street, the fest drew quilting enthusiasts from miles around. Many wandered the streets, gazing at the roughly 200 quilts hanging from store railings and displays in the middle of the street. Some wandered over to the Oswego Senior Center’s garage sale.

But nearly every seat was filled when it came time for Edyta Sitar, owner of Laundry Basket Quilts in Michigan, to give the keynote speech. She discussed different quilting techniques, and drew laughs and applause from the crowd.
