A special thanks to Jason Pettit, director of the Kendall County Forest Preverve District, for providing these photographs and the news release.
The public is invited to celebrate the Grand Opening of Meadowhawk Lodge on October 13 from 10 am to 1 pm. Meadowhawk Lodge, located at Hoover Forest Preserve, 11285 Fox Road in Yorkville, has recently been completely renovated.
The 5,000 square foot lodge has numerous environmentally-friendly features; including utilizing solar and wind power for electricity production, a geothermal system for heating and cooling, and a permeable paver parking lot and rain gardens for infiltration of stormwater.
Meadowhawk will be used in a variety of ways. Meetings, reunions, showers, and gatherings of all kinds will be a perfect fit for the peaceful surroundings. Groups using the bunkhouses and campsites at Hoover FP will find the building the ideal location for group meals and activities. The building has a large meeting space, kitchen, fireplace, and an outdoor patio area.
Meadowhawk Lodge is the last in a number of recent capital projects at Hoover Forest Preserve that have put the shine back on the former scout camp. From campsites and bunkhouses, to trails and Fox River overlooks, and now with a renovated lodge, Hoover has lots to enjoy!

Hoover is my favorite - such a gorgeous preserve. I watched this building getting renovated and was completely surprised by the end result - I couldn't figure out what they were going to be using it for. Looks great! Also, does anyone know who lives in the house with just built in Hoover? Is it the ranger? How do I get that job?! Would be perfect for me! ;-)
