Police Blotter: Arrest Made in Credit Card Fraud

Tuesday, Jan. 10

Alcohol possession

Marcus Hale, 18, of Montgomery, was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor at about noon Jan. 10 at Plainfield Road and Route 71, according to an report. He was given a Feb. 14 court date.

Unlawful use of credit card

A Boulder Hill woman has been charged with finding a lost credit card and attempting to use it at an Oswego store, Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies said.

According to police, Nicole Plum, 38, of the 100 block of Heathgate Road in Boulder Hill, admitted to finding the wallet and using the card. Police received a call at 3 p.m. on Nov. 22 from a business in the first block of Cherry Road in Oswego, reporting that a woman had tried to use a credit card that did not belong to her.

The card had been canceled, police said, so she was unable to purchase anything. Police contacted the owner of the card, and discovered that he had lost his wallet earlier that day. Sheriff’s deputies were then able to track down Plum, and issued a warrant for her arrest on Jan. 5, police said.

Plum was arrested on Tuesday at the Kendall County Courthouse in Yorkville, police said. She was charged with unlawful use of a credit card, a Class 4 felony, police said.

Monday, Jan. 9 

Sugar in the gas tank

Someone poured sugar into the gas tank of a car parked in the first block of Rocky Way in Boulder Hill sometime before 12:08 p.m., Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies said. The incident remains under investigation, police said.

Saturday, Jan. 7

DUI

A traffic accident led to DUI charges for driver at about midnight Jan. 7, according to an Oswego police report. Timothy Saldok, 29, of 2023 Farmington Lakes Drive, was charged with driving under influence and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after a crash at Longbeach Road and Avon Court. Saldok nor the other driver were taken to the hospital, but Saldok was given a Feb. 28 court date. 

iPod taken

An unattended iPod was stolen while the victim played basketball at the Oswego YMCA at about 4 p.m. Jan. 7, according to an Oswego police report. The iPod was valued at about $190.

Car break-in

A resident in the first block of Seton Creek Drive reported to police that someone broke into his vehicle sometime before 1 p.m. Jan. 7 and took various automotive and motorcycle related items valued at about $2,500, according to an Oswego police report.

Friday, Jan. 6

Underage drinking

Stephen Mercado, 18, of 301 Cascade Lane, Oswego, was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor at about 10 a.m. Jan. 6 at Oswego High School, according to an Oswego police report. He was given a Feb. 17 court date.

Drug paraphernalia

George Lange, 20, of 215 Amherst Lane, Oswego, was charged on a failure to appear warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia at about 10:15 a.m. Jan. 6 at Route 34 and Chesterfield Drive, according to an Oswego police report. He was given a Jan. 25 court date.

Vehicle break-in        

Someone stole a Kenwood radio/compact disc player and a pair of sunglasses from an unlocked car parked in the first block of Hampton Road in Boulder Hill sometime before 10:50 a.m., Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies said.
