This past weekend, Project Runway star Johnathan “Kayne” Gillaspie visited The Prom Shoppe in Oswego. He was there to promote his line of prom dresses and shoes, and to meet and sign autographs for his fans.

Kayne arrived on Saturday morning by limo, and spent the day helping girls pick out and try on prom dresses. On Sunday morning, a group of lucky fans had a meet and greet breakfast with Kayne. Afterwards, he again spent the day in the store meeting fans and helping girls find the perfect prom dress.

Any girl who tried on dresses with Kayne received a free autographed t-shirt courtesy of The Prom Shoppe. Kayne was also happy to takes pictures with his fans.

Kayne said that his goal for the weekend was “helping girls find the perfect prom dress”.

“I have a complete line of dresses and shoes and can dress the girls from head to toe,” he said.

Since the beginning of January, Kayne has been traveling all over the country to promote his line. When asked why he finds it important to visit places like The Prom Shoppe, he said “It keeps me hands on with my business.”

Kayne also said that he enjoys meeting his fans and seeing how excited girls get when they try on his dresses.

“I am one of the youngest designers in my field, so I think I am more relatable to the girls,” he said.

Many girls came to The Prom Shoppe over the course of the weekend to try on dresses with Kayne. Miss Teen Illinois, Catherine Love, was also at the shop on Saturday to talk to girls and promote her pageant.

That is so cool...love that store but the prices are pretty high. I love watching Project Runway. I always thought Kayne seemed really genuine and kind. Glad to see he is doing community outreach and getting his name out there. Kinda glad my child isn't at prom age yet $$$$.

Love Project Runaway!! Hope it was a great event! If you didn't have any luck finding the perfect prom dress ... of if you're on a tight budget. Send me a facebook message. I have two beautiful dresses my daugther bought from the Prom Shoppe a couple of years go both size 8. One strapless sheath hot pink (no beading) and another ocean blue princess, a-line with embellishments. Thanks!
