Readers' Choice: Best Quick Haircut
What's your favorite place in town to get a speedy, quality haircut? Vote by clicking the links below and leaving reviews.
Welcome back to another installment of Readers’ Choice, your weekly chance to support your favorite Oswego businesses.
This week, we’re talking haircuts. But not those extensive, meticulous cuts you get at a salon. Those are wonderful, but sometimes you need to be in and out of a barbershop in 10 minutes. So this week, we’re looking for your favorite place to get a good, quick haircut.
We’ve found eight of them in our directory, but there are more, no doubt. If we’ve forgotten your favorite haircut spot, please let us know and we’ll add it to this list. Voting is easy – just click the link and leave a review on your favorite barbershop’s directory listing. The business with the most reviews by Friday at noon will be declared the Readers’ Choice.
Here’s what we have for you:
- Art’s Barber Shop, 33 Main St.
- Custom Cut, 4558 Rt. 71
- Fantastic Sam’s, 332 Douglas Rd.
- Great Clips, 2942 Rt. 34
- Hair Cuttery, 1752 Douglas Rd.
- Shear Moments, 16 W. Washington St.

I actually would NOT recommend Julius Ismael. Back in February I looked into them. On their website it instructed you to text them for an appointment. I never received an acknowledgment from my text. So....I went ahead and called the next day. My request was to have a senior stylist for a cut and asked if I needed a colorist for my color. Was told "no" they had someone to fit the bill and I was excited that they could get me in the next day. I went to my appointment - and boy afterward - wished I had not. There was a young woman that took me as her appointment. She never offered me her card, she seemed quite nervous and honestly by the end of my appt. I decided she literally was just out of hair school. Not to mention that I paid $98 including her tip. She was so awful and appeared to keep loosing confidence as she went along. After the 2 1/2 hour point (yes, I just said 2 1/2 hours) I told her I'd dry my hair and style it at home. I left with a wet head in February. That is how bad it was. Oh yea, one more thing, I had cash with me and she had not change! Luckily during her shift (as she was the only one there) another stylist came in for her appointment and made change for her. How can you "open" the salon yourself and not have a cash drawer and not have a Manager on duty or owner. I don't care if they are offering anything free - I would NOT recommend!!!!
