When Halloween comes around, it always brings the promise of satisfying a sweet tooth with tons and tons of candy.
For those that have too much candy to know what to do with, or don’t envy the inevitable stomachache, Stonehill Dental, 60 Main Street, is hosting their second annual Halloween Candy Buy-Back Program to send to troops overseas.
Local kids will be paid $1.00 per pound of donated candy (up to 5 pounds), which will be sent, along with toothbrushes, through Operation Care Package to the troops serving overseas.
The event will take place at Stonehill Dental on Nov. 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. Children will also receive a goodie bag from Stonehill Dental and a chance to enter a raffle for prizes including an Oral-B Sonic Toothbrush and Crest Professional Strength Whitening Strips.
Children will also be able to write notes to the troops to be sent with the candy.
Stonehill Dental is headed by Drs. Shalini Mohan and Jeffrey J. Hynek.
“Last year we collected over 500 lbs. of candy and we would love to collect more this year!,” said Mohnan and Hynek. “Let's all dig deep and return a little joy to those who give so much to us!”
