Video: Oswego Marks 10 Years of Healing
Thousands tour downtown Empty Shoe Memorial.
Thousands of people from across the Fox Valley came to Oswego Sunday to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
Oswego's Empty Shoe Memorial was open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and included nearly 3,000 pairs of shoes placed along Washington Street, a memorial at Hudson Crossing Park and the reading of the names off all who died.
The Oswego Fire Protection District also held a dedication ceremony for a steel beam from the World Trade Center that will be permanently on display at Station One.

Thank you Oswego, from the bottom of my heart. I am so deeply moved by your response to my "vision".....so many of you demonstrated what makes our town truly wonderful. We showed what patriotism in action looks like. Love. Pat Gavros

Just a beautiful memorial. I'm so proud to see how our little town came together under the leadership & vision of Pat Gavros to create such a moving tribute to the lives lost on that horrible day. Thank you for organizing it and for all the volunteers who spent countless hours planning, setting up & breaking down. Really special.

No words can describe the feeling and experience one receives from participating in such a wonderful memorial. There are many great people who shared their stories of how 9/11 affected them. Several times I had a lump in my throat and tears under my sun glasses. I thank Pat and everyone who made it such a special day. The weather was perfect too. Penny
