The Illinois Society of Amateur Rocketry will be conducting a few rocketry events during the month of June. The action starts with a demonstration launch on the opening day of Prairiefest (June 14th) at 6:30 p.m. We'll be launching a large high-powered rocket that is very exciting to see. It will be a large 4" diameter rocket that quickly climbs into the sky under a trail of smoke.
At the same event we will be launching our Barbie Lofter rocket that gently launches a Barbie doll that gets ejected at apogee, then returns gently to earth under a parachute. The kids abosolutely love this type of launch and it's actually pretty neat for the parents too.
The following weekend we will be sponsoring the Great Lakes Cup Rocketry Competition that will be held at Oswego East High School on Saturday (6/23) and Sunday. This is an international rocketry contest that also has the majority of the U.S. Spacemodeling Team participating.
There will be all sorts of unique contest events such as parachute and streamer duration contests as well as rocket powered gliders. More information on this event is available on our website at www.thegreatlakescup.com

I was at Prairiefest a few years ago when your group launched that large rocket. That was unbelievable. I've never seen someone launch something that large.

My kids love stuff like this. They bought some Estes rockets this summer and we've been launching them whenever we can. I look forward to this.

Just a reminder- this event is today and the weather looks fanstastic for these launches.
