About this column:
Fantasy Football Fanatics is a weekly column for the duration of the fantasy football season by Oswego resident and seasoned fantasy football-er, Scott Stevens. Stevens has been playing in various leagues for nearly 20 years and has several titles to his name.Week 6 is in the books, which means we are at the half way point of the season. I currently sit at 4- 2 which is good, but there is still work to do. This is a tough week with so many teams on byes, so let's take a look and see who might help us in our time of need. Quarterbacks: I see 3 QB’s that I would feel good about plugging in to my line up this week if need be. The are: Josh Freeman, Buccaneers Russell Wilson, Seahawks Matt Hasselbeck,Titans. Both Josh Freeman and Russell Wilson could be solid starters the rest of the way, but Hasselbeck will probably be back on the bench in a …
Remember those guys sitting your bench? Maybe it’s time to take another look at them and see if you can upgrade. Remember that your bench players do not score points against you. So if you have a chance to stock pile some better talent, go get them before one of your other owners does. Also, this is the time when some owners will start to be frustrated with high draft picks that have not produced so far, so start thinking about trades. Bye week Help: With Carolina, Chicago, New Orleans and Jacksonville on the shelf this week, here are a few players to look to fill in for your starters …
Three weeks in there are quite few things to think about. Replacement Refs What will it take to get the real refs back to work? Bad call and injuries happen every week, but some of these calls are costing a team a win. Who had the 49ers losing last week to the Vikings? New Orleans 0 and 3, I guess a head coach does make a difference. Bye Weeks Here come the bye weeks. Do not panic but you need to make sure you are planning ahead for them. This week we only have 2 teams on byes( Indianapolis and Pittsburgh) It’ll get worse in the coming weeks. Grab ‘em if you can: Quarterbacks: …
Injuries happen every week. Thus, you have to be able to adjust as the bodies change. It hurts when it’s your guy (insert Ahmad Bradshaw, Aaron Hernandez). But those are the breaks, unless you still think you can control such things. But when one player goes down, it means another player has the chance to shine. Grab 'em if you can: Quarterbacks: Matt Cassel, Chiefs – He may not be a top ten NFL quarterback but his team looks to be trailing in a lot of games. Bad for the Chiefs, good for you. Andy Dalton, Bengals – Top flight receiver and some really good match ups the next month make …
Draft day is just around the corner for most of you (my draft was last weekend). Hopefully you have had a chance to do a few mock drafts and have your ranking sheets ready to go. It’s time to clear your sheets and plan your draft day tactics. Rule #1 -- Have some fun. Isn’t it the reason you play this crazy game? Rule #2 -- D not reach early for high risk/ high reward players. Pick solid players that will give you points week in and week out. Rules #3 -- Watch for runs on certain positions and avoid adding to the run. It is better to take a top receiver instead of the fifth running …
Welcome back to the world of Fantasy Football. Every year I look around the draft table and wonder why certain players are being drafted so high. Here is my 2012 list of players that comes with a “Warning, Danger Will Robinson.” Quarterbacks: Cam Newton – the number 1 bust. Cam was phenomenal last year as a rookie. He was unstoppable at the goal line, scoring 14 TD’s rushing. But that’s the problem, it was last year. All the teams in the NFL have a year of tape on him and no quarterback has ever had that kind of stats in the rushing touchdowns two years in a row. I know you are going …
Pre-season games have officially begun! Starters do not seem to play too much until game three, thus plan your viewing according. We all watch so much football during the real season, you must pace yourself (and your significant others). Let's get on with our topic of the day: Sleepers. We all would like to know who the next Victor Cruz, Laurent Robinson, Cam Newton or DeMarco Murray is going to be before the season starts. These are my picks. Quarterbacks: There are the BIG FOUR and if you land one of them you will be set. They are Rodgers, Brees, Brady, and Stafford. For the rest of us …
Hello all my fellow crazy fantasy football players. This time of year as training camps open up, we begin to explore the depth charts. For us Fantasy Football Fanatics (FFF), we begin to do our mock drafts and dream of a championship run. Whether you are a seasoned veteran or just getting into this craze, I will try you provide some weekly thoughts to help you along your path to bragging rights! Let’s begin with the real purpose of doing mock drafts. Many owners fail to do their homework and when the real drafts begin they are not ready for what is about to come. The goal of mock drafts…
