Our summer reading program is designed to make your student a more focused and efficient reader. Book Smart will give your child the tools he/she needs in order to check for understanding while he/she is reading! Our book club is a great way to keep your child engaged in learning during the summer months!

Book Club!

Students will meet with their tutor twice a week. The first session every week will be one-on-one; the second will be with 1 or 2 other students. Book Clubs will be grouped to ensure that the students who are reading the same books will meet together. Each session will be offered with the option of a weekly book club meeting.

Book Smart students will accomplish the following:                
o   finish reading a book
o   learn new vocabulary
o   work on their spelling
o   study literary terms
o   practice reading aloud
o   chart their understanding
o   improve their reading comprehension
o   write responses to their reading

Each student will receive a copy of the book they are reading, it will be his/hers to keep after the sessions are finished. He/she will also receive a folder full of the worksheets for the session.

Session 1 – June 11th – July 14th
Session 2 – July 16th – August 18th
