Little White School Museum Debuts New Temporary Exhibit "Ribbons, Recognition & Records"
The exhibit will be available for museum visitors through the end of the summer.
Looking to explore a little bit of Oswego's history? No time like the present!
The Little White School Museum is debuting a new temporary exhibit called
“Ribbons, Recognition & Records: An Oswego and Kendall County 4-H Retrospective” from now through the end of summer.
Read below for a release from the Little White School Museum on what you can expect in the exhibit:
In 1934, young J. George Smith became the first-ever member of a Kendall County 4-H Club to win a statewide championship. He went on two years later to become the county’s first-ever national champion, showing his award-winning Holstein dairy cow.
Smith’s story is just one of those told in a new exhibit, “Ribbons, Recognition & Records: An Oswego and Kendall County 4-H Retrospective,” at Oswego’s Little White School Museum.
The exhibit includes a wealth of historical information and artifacts marking the organization’s 90-year history in Kendall County. From ribbons to pins to information on some of the county’s earliest 4-H activities, from the 1930s through the present, the exhibit illustrates the evolution of 4-H from a purely rural association to today’s comprehensive organization.
Admission to the new exhibit, which will be open through the end of the summer, is free. Regular museum hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. In addition, the museum’s archives and research area is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, and at other times by appointment.
The museum is a joint project of the Oswegoland Park District and the not for profit Oswegoland Heritage Association.
