Happy with My Own Reality

After giving up Facebook, texting, and even reading all the Patch comments, I have more free time. So, I decided to try out some reality TV.

Being off the grid has gone exceptionally well.

I actually FEEL better.  I took it to the next step and got rid of all my ‘daily deal’ emails.  Groupon, Living Social, 8Moms, etc.  are all great resources; however, I don’t need to bargain shop daily.  I can check them when I feel like it or I am looking for something in particular.  This has saved me time, stress and money.  So, what have I done with some of my extra free time?

Well, I tried out some ‘in’ TV.  This is new to me.  I have not seen one episode of SYTYCD or DWTS or America’s Got Talent.  I have not seen American Idol since Ruben and Clay were on.  I haven’t seen an episode of Glee, True Blood, Vampire Diaries, Grey’s Anatomy and probably most others you could name.   I decided to start off with some reality TV.

Hell’s Kitchen made me feel like an OK cook since the chefs on the show burnt dishes, undercooked dishes, and made things with no taste.  However, I didn’t like all the yelling and decided to move on.

I like the show Chopped which is about chefs cooking with weird ingredients.  However, I have a much better idea.  You have those same four ingredients because you haven’t made it to the grocery store and you have to make something that kids will eat.  No pantry and fresh veggies around since you haven’t been to the store.  Just Lemonheads, cod, strawberry preserves, and lentils—now that is reality.

Toddlers and Tiaras was good for making me feel like ‘Mom of the Year’, but one episode was more than enough.  Jersey Shore made me feel like locking my daughters up until they are 30.  The ‘boys’ on the show are pushing 30 and working part time sometimes.   Yes, I do understand that the ‘reality’ is they are millionaires, but YUCK.

Hoarders took out a flattened, decomposed cat.  I am done with that show as well.  I think I am done with reality TV.  I don’t need the competition shows either.  I love musicals so maybe I will give Glee a shot this fall.  Or just read more.
