Plank Junior High Has It Going On!

My first introduction to the junior highs of Oswego was a good one.

Wednesday night I walked into the Step Up Night for my eldest as the first introduction to the Oswego junior highs.

I was worried about my daughter and myself as a parent being "just numbers."  However, my worries did not last long.  I was greeted by three Plank HSO parents during my entrance.  They were welcoming everyone and introducing themselves.  They made me feel very welcome.

Then, during the presentation, Ilia Rivera, the current Plank HSO president said two things that really struck me.  First, “As the kids say, this is an awesome school.”  Second, “We are a very warm and open association.”  I look forward to getting involved with the Plank HSO next year.  Thanks for the friendly welcome.

The staff at Plank also did an outstanding job of making everyone feel welcome. They addressed common worries.  Several spoke about how much they care about the success of our kids.  Staff and administration also spoke repeatedly about staying in touch with them.  Several staff members were there to represent clubs and sports that most likely did not "have to" be there.  That says a lot about the school climate.

Check one worry off the list for this week; only 1,143 to go.  Being a mom is so much fun!
