Celebration of Quilts Fest is June 7 in Oswego

Expect delays in downtown Oswego.

The third annual Celebration of Quilts Festival is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 7, in downtown Oswego. 

The event, hosted by the Village of Oswego and Prairie Stitches Quilt Shoppe, will include quilting demos, raffle baskets, quilt appraisals, vendors and more. Featured speaker Jo Morton, whose presentation is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Expect traffic delays

Oswego police are reminding residents to expect increased traffic congestion and delays in Oswego during quilt festival activities.

Motorists should expect delays in particular on Route 34 in the downtown area, including delays on Madison, Washington and Main Street.

Main Street will be closed between Washington and Jackson streets from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Drivers may want to consider alternate routes if they are not planning to attend the Celebration of Quilts Fest, such as using Route 71 to travel west out of town instead of Route 34, or taking Route 31 north to Route 30 to avoid downtown and Route 34 traffic.

Visitors to the event should use the public parking lot on Harrison Street or the areas south of Washington Street and east of Madison Street for additional parking.
