You'll get a steak dinner for $20 a person. The horse and cart rides are $5 per adult and $2.50 per kid.

Oswego Senior Center Valentine's Dinner
Where/When:
Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Washington St, Oswego, 6 p.m. Saturday.
Why Go:
The event features music, as well as shrimp cocktail, prime rib and dessert, all for $20 to $35.

A Short Drive Away

"Love is in the Air" Special Olympics fundraiser
Where/When:
Yorkville American Legion, 9054 State Route 34, Yorkville; 5-9 p.m.
Why Go:
Enjoy dinner, a cash bar, and a performance by Johnny Gray while supporting a good cause. Tickets are $25 per person.

The Vagina Monologues
Where/When: Copley Theatre at North Island Center, 8 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora; starts Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Friday at 8 p.m. and runs through May 6
Why go: It’s edgy and fun. Get your girlfriends together or drag your clueless boyfriend to an eye-opening, critically acclaimed show featuring the original Chicago cast.
Pricing: $28.50 for tickets


Who’s in Bed with Barry Butler
Where/When: Riverfront Playhouse, 11-13 Water St., Aurora; Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. until Feb. 19.
Why go: This 60-seat theater is a treasure in downtown Aurora; this farce by Michael Parker is sure to bring laughs and a fun evening.
Pricing: $15 for adults. $12 for seniors/students.


• Gideon Haynes Art Opening
Where/When: Paramount Theatre Grand Gallery, 23 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora; Saturday, 7-9 p.m.
Why go: Haynes’ paintings are all on doors and all proceeds from sales go to benefit Rebuilding Together Aurora.
Pricing: Free


51st Annual University of Chicago Folk Festival
Where/When: Mandell Hall, 1131 E. 57th St., Chicago; Friday through Sunday
Why go: Mandolins, fiddles and accordions. Banjos, guitars and bagpipes.
Pricing: $20-25 for a regular ticket. Weekend passes and senior/student pricing available.
