Local Scout Leaders Honored for Volunteer Service

Troop leaders from Oswego, Yorkville, recognized last month.

Jeff Jerabek of Yorkville and Tammy Webber of Oswego received the Scout District Award of Merit on Thursday, June 5, during the Maramech Hills District Dinner in Plano. The award is presented to leaders who render noteworthy service to Scouts. 

Jeff Jerabek is Scoutmaster of Troop 40, Yorkville. He has served as Tiger Cub and Webelos Den Leaders in Pack 340.  He promotes participation at Scout Sunday events and has encouraged Scouts to remain vigilant with their service to veterans. A member of the Yorkville Congregational Church and the Sons of the American Legion Post 489, Yorkville, Jerabek has served on both the Lyon Farm and Chapel on the Green Historic Societies. 

Tammy Webber is the Committee Chair for Boy Scout Troop 31, Oswego.  She has served as the Maramech Hill District Finance chair, Venture Crew 2655 advisor, and merit badge counselor.  She received the William D. Boyce Organizer Award for helping to start Crew 31. Webber has led 4H and Girl Scout troops. She has served as a PTA member, and coordinator for the Oswego Presbyterian Church Adopt-A-Highway program.
