This year's event brings the return of the carnival, thanks to Windy City Unlimited, as well as performances by Night Ranger, Rusted Root, 7th Heaven, Modern Day Romeos and more.
There's some excitement in store as Food Network Canada's new show, "Carnival Eats," shows up to document the unique food and drink at this year's fest. Find a full list of vendors and food offerings on the PrairieFest website.
The fun starts as PrairieFest begins at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Hours are:
- 2:30-10:30 p.m. Thursday
- 6 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Friday
- 6 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Saturday
- 6 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Sunday
Highlights include wine tastings from 5 to 10:30 at the hospitality tent, plus a performance by 7th Heaven on the Main Stage.
On Friday, check out the PrairieFest Quilt show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., as well as a free petting zoo from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Other fun includes a homerun derby at Prairie Point Park, a diaper derby at the children's tent and the Oswego Foundation for Educational Excellence's barbecue fundraiser.
Rusted Root is set to perform at 9 p.m.
The quilt show will return Saturday, along with the petting zoo, a kids fishing clinic, a softball tournament, a magician, Dave DiNaso's Traveling World of Reptiles a performance by Real Women Bellydance.
Night Ranger will taken the main stage at 9 p.m.
On Father's Day, the fun continues with the PrairieFest 5K and One Mile Prairie Dog Jog at 8:30 a.m.
Added to the mix is an exotic animal petting zoo from noon to 6 p.m., as well as the PrairieFest Parade in downtown Oswego at 1 p.m. The quilt show will close out with a drawing to win a quilt from noon to 4 p.m.
Sunday will also bring the Rotary Club's duck races, PrairieFest Bed Races and a 3:30 performance by Luke Underhill on the Main Stage.
