Oswego Senior Center Hosts Scam Awareness Day

Tips and info to help seniors protect themselves from fraudsters.

The Oswego Senior Center, 156 E. Washington St., will present Scam Awareness Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 13.

The event starts at 10 a.m. with a financial exploitation seminar presented by Amy Flynn, Protective Service Supervisor Senior Services.

Oswego Police Capt. Nick Sikora will present a seminar on local scams at 10:35, followed by an identity theft presentation by Tom Lydon of Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka's office at 11:10 a.m.

Lisa Thompson-Bennett of Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office will present "Silver Beat Program Scams" at 11:45 a.m., followed by a seminar on how to identify real utility and public workers at 12:15 p.m.

Lunch will be served at 12:40 p.m., courtesy of Bickford Assisted Living & Memory Care.
