Park District Aiming to Best World Records at PrairieFest

Get your bubble gum ready for Guiness attempt.

PrairieFest has spent the last 22 years breaking records for crowds, runners, parade entries, even temperatures.  This year the festival takes aim at some official Guinness World Records with PrairieFest’s Rocking the Records.  On Saturday, June 16 at the’s PrairieFest this community will take two attempts to prove once and for all, there is no place like home for those in the Oswego/Montgomery/Plainfield area.

Before the Saturday night bands perform at the festival, cheer on local Colin Sullivan as he sets the Guinness World Record for the Longest Duration Balancing a Ladder on a Chin.  Sullivan, 22, has been demonstrating his balancing everywhere from local high school pep rallies to national television.  But Colin’s never seen exactly how long he can keep going.  Cheer on this Montgomery native as he set a Guinness World Record balancing an 8 foot fiberglass ladder from the Oswego Home Depot in front of his hometown crowd.

Next, the crowd will have a turn at being in the record books.  Everyone will be invited to grab some chewing gum on the way into the festival.  Anyone attending PrairieFest that evening will have the opportunity to participate in breaking the existing record for Most People Simultaneously Blowing Chewing Gum Bubbles.  Set in Iowa, the current record stands at 304.  The park district invites everyone to be a part of the PrairieFest attempt. Participants just need to blow a bubble that lasts for 30 seconds.
