PrairieFest Talent Show Still Looking for Local Acts

Eight acts being invited to perform on the Main Stage.

The Oswego Cultural Arts Commission is currently looking for four more talented amateur performers to take the Main Stage at PrairieFest from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 19, for the first-ever Oswego's Got Talent!—a talent showcase, not competition.

“One of the primary goals of the Cultural Arts Commission is to promote the arts in the Oswego community. We thought it would be a great idea to organize an event for amateur performers – musicians, comedians, actors, etc., that would showcase Oswego’s own talent,” said Cultural Arts Commissioner Karen Kulzer.

The Cultural Arts Commission decided to make this event a showcase instead of a contest, realizing that “art and music are subjective and the audience can enjoy all of the performances,” said Cultural Arts Commissioner Kristie Vest.

“Oswego has brought in great bands with PrairieFest and we are excited to show the talent that exists in our town,” said Vest.

Those interested in participating in the event should contact Michele Bergeron, community relations coordinator for the village of Oswego at 630-554-3618 or e-mail the Village of Oswego at info@oswegoil.org.

This year's PrairieFest is set for June 16-19. An estimated 40,000 people will attend PrairieFest events, which are held throughout Oswego. 2011 is PrairieFest’s 23rd year. There are no admission costs.
