The River Teaming Up with Salvation Army for Giving Event on March 2

As the holidays have passed and we ease toward spring, 95.9 The River has teamed up with the Salvation Army to give people a reason to get a jump start on their Spring Cleaning while benefiting those who are striving to better their lives.

This first of its kind event brings awareness to the fact that when items are sold through local Salvation Army Thrift Stores, the proceeds go to benefit the Salvation Army Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Center.

This means that River listeners have the chance to give without having to reach into their pockets, helping to make a difference in peoples’ lives simply by directing their gently worn clothes, unused small appliances, and so much more to the local Salvation Army Thrift Stores. 

“In these difficult times, it’s hard to ask for people to open up their wallets to give cash,” said Scott Kosak, General Manager of The River, “but everyone has clothes in their drawers and closets that haven’t been worn for a while, so a little mid-winter cleaning can not only create space in our listeners’ homes, but warmth in their hearts knowing that it’s going to a good cause.” 

The core of the 12 Hours of Giving campaign is a live broadcast by the on-air personalities of 95.9 The River this Saturday, March 2nd at the Downers Grove Salvation Army Thrift Store at 1520 75th St. from 7am to 7pm. Danielle Tufano (7am-11am), Scott Mackay (11am-3pm), and Mitch Michaels (3pm-7pm) will each be taking their turn broadcasting live and greeting listeners as they arrive with their donations!

The 95.9 The River Road Crew will also be making stops during the day at the Glendale Heights Thrift Store (11am-1pm) and the Montgomery Thrift Store (4pm-6pm). In thanks for their donations, everyone who donates at any of those 3 locations while The River is on-site won’t just walk away with a great feeling, they’ll also walk away with a pair of movie tickets to Hollywood Boulevard or Hollywood Palms movie theaters in Woodridge and Naperville.

We do not receive any government or public funding so your donation is essential to our mission of saving lives. We serve your community and we value your generosity.”
