Viewfinder: Community Steps Up in Latest Tia Carr Blood Drive Effort

Oswego High School hosts one of four annual drives held in honor of OHS student with rare blood disorder.

Some 121 pints of blood were collected Tuesday at at one of four annual blood drives organized every year by the family of Tia Carr, a freshman at the school with a Common Variable Immune Deficiency. The disease requires Tia to receive blood infusions about once every six to eight weeks.

Tia's mom, Lauri, said the drives wouldn't be possible without the overwhelming support from many local restaurants, including , , , , , , and .

"All of these places are so generous with their donations," Lauri Carr said. "We couldn't do it without them."

The Oswego Meijer store also donated food and drinks to the drive for donors to snack on after giving.
