Weekend Grab Bag: Memorial Day Weekend Edition

Friday, May 27

Oswego Soccer Classic, Oswego
The Scoop: 
The Panther Soccer Club hosts this tournament from May 27  to May 29 at Prairie Fest Park in Oswego. Games will be held on Friday evening only for local teams, and Monday only in the event of inclement weather.
Inside Info: Now in its eighth year, the Oswego Soccer Classic is widely recognized as one the best run tournaments in the Chicagoland area.

, Yorkville
The Scoop: A tribute to veterans will be given at 10:45 a.m. at Beecher Community Park by Senior Services with a flag ceremony followed by a lunch and the Legacy Girls Boogie Woogie Review.
Inside Info: The cost is $4 for veterans and Senior Services members and $5 for nonmembers.

The Scoop: Spectators are free, $15 entry fee for cars. 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Inside Info: This is a fundraiser for Knights of Columbus; come out and help a great cause.

Get Wet!, local waterparks, Oswego and Yorkville
The Scoop: Raging Waves, 4000 N. Bridge St., in Yorkville and Oswegoland Park District's , 5 Ashland Ave., open for the season.
Inside Info: Visitors to Raging Waves will receive complimentary admission to "Kung-Fu Panda 2" at Hollywood Palms or Hollywood Blvd. cinemas and there will be Kung-Fu demonstrations throughout the day. Season passes will be available for purchase.

, Blackberry Farm, Aurora
The Scoop: Join in on a barnyard birthday party bash from 1 to 2 p.m. Guests will enjoy fun games and activities – including a chance to break open the piñata.
Inside Info: Cake will be served afterward, much to the pigs’ delight. Fee is $4.25(R)/$7(N) for adults and $3.75(R)/$6(N) for children.

Sunday, May 29

, West Aurora High School, Aurora
The Scoop: Bikes will ride the streets once again. Meet at 2 p.m. for a casual ride with other like minded individuals through Aurora. 
Inside Info: Wear your helmet, follow the rules of the road and have fun on the streets!

Monday, May 30

Memorial Day Parade, through downtown Oswego
The Scoop: Marching bands and more will honor the service men and women who gave their lives for our country. Parade starts at 10 a.m. at the Old Traughber Junior High. 
Inside Info: The parade travels down Jackson to Monroe to Jefferson to Main and then on to Oswego Township Cemetery for the Memorial Day Ceremony. Refreshments will be served at the American Legion after the ceremony.

Memorial Day Ceremony, Montgomery.
The Scoop: The annual tribute to fallen service men and women begins at 11 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery, 1120 S. Broadway.
Inside Info: Montgomery's Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7452 organizes the annual cemetery tribute each year.
