Optimist Club Oratory Contest
The Oswegoland Optimist Club will be hosting the Northern Regional Oratory Contest Saturday, April 16.The event will take place between 12:00 noon and 2:30PM at the Oswego AmericInn located at 1050 Douglas Road in Oswego.
Teenage contestants representing Oswego and several other clubs across Northern Illinios will be competing to move on to the state championship in Peoria at the end of April.
Since its start in 1928, the Oratorical contest is the longest running program sponsored by Optimist International. The contest is designed for youth to gain experience in public speaking and provide them with the opportunity to compete for a college scholorship. State champions are awarded $2500 scholarships.
