Oswego Cemetery Walk

The Oswegoland Heritage Association and the Oswego Public Library are holding the annual Oswego Cemetery Walk on Thursday, October 18th at the Oswego Township Cemetery on S. Main Street, Oswego. This is a free event. Beginning at 7:00 p.m., spirit guides will escort groups of approximately 20 people to each of the graves of five former Oswegoans to hear their life stories. Come anytime between 7:00-9:00 p.m.; the last group will lead off at 9:00 p.m.


 


This year, visitors will hear from Civil War soldier Charles Case, Adjutant of the Fox River Regiment (1837-1864) portrayed by Chris Ruebel; Oswego druggist Levi Hall (1846 – 1914) enacted by Joe Kluessendorf; wagon maker William Hoze (1815 – 1878) portrayed by Rich LeCropane; widow Esther Jane Minard (1818-1895) played by Janet Demont; and early Methodist minister Rev. Henry Minard (1813-1887) played by Dick Krase.

The Oswego Cemetery Walk is held in the dark with only kerosene lanterns for illumination. People wanting to attend should bring a flashlight and wear comfortable walking shoes. Park your car on Main Street and use the south entrance to the Oswego Cemetery. There is no admission fee, no seating is provided and there are no reservations. In the event of rain, the program will be held during the same hours on Friday, October 19th.
