The first Beats and Eats festival is set for Aug. 10 at Prairie Point Park.

Things are starting to rock and roll for Oswego’s first annual Beats and Eats outdoor music festival.

The festival is being hosted between the Village of Oswego and Oswego businessman and resident Macey Brooks and was recently approved by the Village of Oswego board.

Two headliners for each main stage have been announced, said Brooks, and they are Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors and Red Wanting Blue.

Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors have been featured on TV shows such as Nashville, House, One Tree Hill, How I Met Your Mother, Deadliest Catch, Parenthood, Justified and Oprah. Red Wanting Blue recently appeared on the “Late Show with David Letterman.”

Other bands that will be playing at Beats and Eats include: The Floorwalkers; Mary Leigh and The Fauves; Marina City; The Good Husbands; Tumbleweed Wanderers; and Julia Klee.

Beat and Eats is set for Saturday, Aug. 10 from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Prairie Point Park, rain or shine.

Tickets are currently being sold for $15 and can be purchased online at the Oswego Beats and Eats website as well as a selection of locations in the area. Brooks has identified those locations as: The Village of Oswego, Elite Sports Performance (on Mitchell Road), Oswego Community Bank, My Sister’s Lil Donut Shoppe, Riverview Ford and American Family Insurance (Plainfield, Ill). Children 12 and under are free.

While the Beats are in full swing, the Eats are being kept mum for now.

“We’ll have more on that in a little while,” said Brooks. He added that alcohol will be available.
