Meijer Hosts a Healthy Living Event To Promote Heart Health

• One in three American adults are at risk for diabetes, do you know if you're one of them?

  Nearly 24 million Americans live with diabetes, and 57 million are not far behind with pre-diabetes. In an effort to raise awareness of this disease, Meijer will be presenting an in-store healthy living event at all store locations on Saturday, March 12, 2011, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. In support of the cause, each Meijer location will feature a sampling demonstration of diabetic-friendly food including Meijer Chocolate Diabetic Nutritional Shakes, Daisy Low-Fat Cottage Cheese, Meijer Sugar-Free Ice Cream, Ready Pack Bistro Salads and Meijer Smoked Fresh Atlantic Salmon*. A trained Meijer Pharmacy Technician in the pharmacy department will provide free glucose testing. Customers are also encouraged to pick up a FREE Meijer "Healthy Living Naturally" booklet entitled Preventing and Reversing Diabetes, containing information on how to prevent and reverse pre-diabetes, diabetic-friendly food and recipes, plus simple meal planning.
