New Café Opens in Oswego

Silly Pots Café is located at 4566 Route 71.

What do you get if you rearrange the letters in the old Riley Flynn’s Sports Pub?

You end up with Silly Pots, or Silly Pots Café, located at 4566 Route 71.

The new lunch and dinner café opened in the place of the old Riley Flynn’s on July 9. Silly Pots owner Sheila Price said they did not want to have to make a completely new sign so opted to rearrange the letters in the existing façade.

“We came up with ‘silly’ and then ‘pots’,” said Price of the two type styles.

Silly Pots features homemade food that Price said is really homemade. “We grind our own Italian sausage and make our own meatballs and salad dressings.” Even the delicious sounding caramel salted brownies and cobblers are all made from scratch.

Pierce said some of the more popular items are their meatball sandwiches and pulled pork. “The pulled pork just keeps selling out!” she said.

The restaurant is open Tuesday – Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is closed on Monday.

In a couple of weeks Silly Pots will also be serving beer and wine.

“We wanted to change the reputation of this spot first and make it about food,” said Pierce. “Then we thought we’d add the alcohol.”
