Sam's Club Continues Construction, Gas Station Takes Shape

The store is expected to open in the spring of 2014.

Driving along Route 34 you may have noticed the large building quickly going up by Route 30 in Montgomery.

Sam's Club, 1050 Ogden Ave., is continuing construction at a steady pace with plans to open in the spring of 2014. They began construction in late August.

The 136,000 square-foot store in the Ogden Hill Development will have a pharmacy, optical department, gas station and photo center.

The gas station has begun to take shape, with the structure situated right along Route 34.

Debbie Buchanan, executive assistant for the Village of Montgomery, said, "The building is going up pretty quickly and a good portion of the parking lot has been prepped."

She said the Village's building inspector is on site of Sam's Club several times a week and is working closely with the builders.

Sam's Club will bring about 175 new jobs to the area and hiring is expected to start later this year. Buchanan said there has been no word on hiring plans yet.

Sam’s Club currently operates 29 clubs in Illinois and Walmart and Sam’s Club currently employ more than 50,000 associates in Illinois.
