REALTOR® ASSOCIATION OF THE FOX VALLEY -- VOLUNTEERS TO PAINT LOCAL HOUSE

In late spring, Jim Forni from the City of Geneva reached out to the REALTOR® Association of the Fox Valley to ask for help. His issue was complex and involved personal circumstance. His Code Compliance Department had issued a local homeowner an impending citation, if her home was not painted and brought up to code. Due to a multitude of challenges the homeowner was unable to make the necessary improvements on her own.

The solution was simple for 13 local REALTORS®, all members of the REALTOR® Association of the Fox Valley (RAFV). The project was immediately delegated to the Industry Relations Committee. The committee coordinated a date, a project leader, volunteers, and shopped for supplies. As the project was further investigated, it was determined two doors would also need to be replaced. RAFV enlisted the help of NIHBA, King’s Court Builders and Searls Windows & Doors to replace and install the doors at zero cost to the homeowner.

On Friday, October 11 the REALTORS® gathered at the home in Geneva and completed the painting project in an impressive 5 hours. The Industry Relations Committee initiates all community relations efforts for the Association, as it is a priority for REALTORS® to give back to the communities in which they do business.
