Shorewood Mayor to Run for State Representative

Longtime Village President Rick Chapman will seek Tom Cross' seat in 2014.

Mayor Rick Chapman of Shorewood said he's looking to replace State Rep. Tom Cross in the 97th District, according to WJOL.

Chapman, who has been mayor since 2001, told the radio station he's decided to throw his hat in the ring. He said he decided to put himself in the running after learning that Cross, who is pursuing the state treasurer's seat, isn't looking to be re-elected to the office.

Chapman faces a challenge from fellow Republican Mark Batinick, who recently announced he plans to run for Cross' seat.
