"Rachel's Hope" Fundraiser Date Approaching

Recent OHS graduate Rachel Herr and her family created "Rachel's Hope" to inspire others battling cancer, raise awareness and fundraise for medical expenses.

A recent Oswego High School graduate is hoping to inspire others and fundraise for her recently finished chemotherapy in a few weeks.

Rachel Herr, who graduated OHS in 2013, was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin’s lymphoma three weeks before her graduation and began treatment on June 4.

She and her family created "Rachel's Hope" to share the inspiration they all found while Rachel was battling cancer.

“You begin to realize it’s more than just the story that is happening to you,” Carrier Herr, Rachel's mother told Patch. “When you spend time at the cancer center and you get to talk to people… volunteers, those that have cancer or loved ones touched by it you really begin to count your blessings and realize there is joy through the journey.”

Rachel's Hope is putting on a fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 18 at 5 p.m. at Emerson Creek Pottery to raise awareness and also to help fund the expenses of Rachel's treatment.

Tickets cost $20 and include dinner from Fay’s Pork Chop Bar-B-Que and can be purchased here. Tickets must be purchased by Oct. 15.
