Letter to the Editor: Thank You to PrairieFest Volunteers

Cori Veverka of the Oswegoland Park District wants to thank everyone who lent a hand to this year's PrairieFest.

Over 200 people graciously donated their time to volunteer at PrairieFest this weekend and we cannot thank them enough!  This festival is possible because of all of the amazing students, couples, individuals, families, and community groups (like the OEHS National Honor Society, Wheatland Salem Church, and Source Church) who join us each Father’s Day weekend. They sweat the small stuff, so you don’t have to.

This sea of volunteers in blue shirts helped you park, shuttled you to your destination, greeted you as you arrived, and cleaned up behind you. They poured your beer, lined up your parade, and kept you on track during your race. They showed up early and stayed late. They worked in the sunshine and they worked in the pouring rain. And they did it all with a smile. As a community, we are so lucky to have an army of people who are happy to work hard to make sure that the rest of us can play hard.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered at PrairieFest this past weekend. PrairieFest would not be the same without each and every one of you. I am already looking forward to the opportunity to work beside you again next year!
