Village of Oswego Hosting Operation Wrap-Up to Collect Winter Clothing

Boxes can be picked up on Nov. 19.

Editor's Note: The following is a press release from the Village of Oswego:

The Oswego Village Board has added the warming of hands, heads, and hearts to their agenda for the next two months and they need your help to be successful.

“Our primary responsibility is to provide services to our residents,” said  one trustee. “What better service is there than to warm the heads and hands of those in need?”

Starting Monday, November 19 organizations and businesses are being encouraged to pick up a large, cardboard box from Village Hall.

The boxes can then be decorated and set out to collect donations of hats, scarves, mittens, gloves, and socks of all sizes. The filled boxes should be returned to Village Hall by December 20 where the contents will be sorted and distributed to aid agencies throughout our community.

The Trustees hope that Operation Wrap-Up, as it has been dubbed, can fill 10 boxes to overflowing this holiday season. “We hope that youth groups, business groups, and neighborhood organizations will step up to fill a need right here at home,” said one trustee, “our community is always willing to reach out and help others.”

You can pick up your Operation Wrap-Up boxes at Village Hall, 100 Parkers Mill, Oswego or call 630-554-3618 to arrange for one to be dropped off at your location. As an added bonus the group who returns the box with the most items will be recognized at a Village Board meeting in January. That’s a wrap!
