Was it just another store, just another business thats closed its doors

When a store or a business in the community closes its doors and leaves we are left to ponder, for instance, why those businesses weren't able to survive, what will be the effects of its closing be on the community, and then what businesses closing signals about the general health of the economy.
One of the first and most noticeable business to close in the Oswego area was Lowe's home improvement, and now Dominicks Grocery store  has closed its doors leaving the Chicago area.
To most people the effects of a business closing is only a matter of inconvenience to them and they just shrug it off and go on about their lives as if nothing has happened.
But a business closing isn't just another business that failed and closed its doors, theres more to it than that, there are the people who had jobs that these businesses provided which once gave those who worked there the ability to make a living, to feed their families and have a home to raise their children in. Those people working in those businesses that have closed use to feel secure, thinking that as long as they worked hard and showed up at work every day that they would have a steady source of income that they could depend upon.
I too, use to look at a business closing its doors as just another business that for some reason couldn't make a go of it but now its a little more personal, my neighbor worked at one of those businesses for many years which now has closed its doors and while I don't know what changes this will mean for him in his life  this time a business closing hit a little closer to home.
