Keep education effective for ALL!!

ISBE held their board meeting this past Wednesday and Thursday, there were comments from teachers- no parents - really I know it is hard to make it to meetings but we as parents have to tell ISBE NO!! We want to keep education effective for all and this proposed repeal of class size limits in special education classrooms and the 70/30 composition in general education classroom will be devastating for ALL! This proposal will come before JCAR (Joint Committee on Administrative Rules ) committee in August or September they are aware of public comments but schools have been told to prepare for the 2103-2014 school year  as if this is already in place. This will be devastating for our education system as a whole. ISBE will tout this as they are giving local school districts more control but control w/o accountability is a recipe for disaster, they will say they will have accountability through the current focus monitoring group. This focus monitoring group visits 30 schools throughout the state for all levels ( elementary, junior high and high school) of underperforming schools as based on the data the schools send to the state. 30 schools out of the 1000's across the state, that is going to show accountability?? Really what you are accomplishing is giving schools local control without no oversight, and we are all feeling the effects of the mortgage companies conducting their business without no oversight, remember, housing collapse, high unemployment , near depression? And you want to let ISBE do this to our educational system? Our children deserve better than this, please don't pull their future.
's out from underneath them  !! Please contact each and every member of JCAR from now until they receive ISBE's proposal let them know this is UNACCEPTABLE!!
