On Friday night, for the ninth year in a row, hundreds of people will come together to help stamp out cancer.
The American Cancer Society’s annual local fundraiser, the Relay for Life of Oswego/Montgomery, steps off at 6 p.m. on Friday at . Participants will walk in shifts around the OHS track, passing the baton throughout the night, until the closing ceremonies at 5:30 a.m. Saturday.
Last year’s Relay brought out 500 participants in 56 teams, and raised more than $96,500, according to Robert Blodgett, publicity chair of the local Relay. And all of the money raised goes to help cancer patients in Oswego and Montgomery, Blodgett said.
As of Tuesday, there were 396 participants registered for the 2012 Relay, with $40,163 raised so far.
