Snapshot: Oswego-based Phenom Gymnastics' Head Coaches and Student Receive Awards

Jessica Holtz and Marco Bravo were both named Coach of the Year, Keeley Kmieciak named Junior Olympic Gymnast of the Year.

Oswego-based Phenom Gymnastics’ head coaches, Jessica Holtz and Marco Bravo have both been named USA Gymnastics (USAG) Region 5 Coach of the Year.

Selected from thousands of coaches in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky, USAG Region 5 honored Holtz and Bravo at the recent Region 5 banquet in Indianapolis.  It is the second time for both coaches, who also received the award in 2009.

“It's a tremendous honor to be recognized by your peers for all your hard work,” said Holtz.  “Because our region is so strong and talented, just getting a gymnast qualified for level 10 nationals is a huge challenge,” Holtz said. “Receiving Coach of the Year in this region is incredibly special and a moment in my life I won't forget.”

“It's an honor to be recognized as the best coach among such a talented pool of coaches in this region," said Bravo.

The success of Level 10 National Champion gymnast, Keeley Kmieciak, who trained her entire career with Phenom, led to the coaches’ awards. Kmieciak also received the honor of Region 5 Junior Olympic Gymnast of the Year, who received her award alongside 2012 Olympian Jordyn Wieber, who was honored as the region’s Elite Gymnast of the Year.
