Mike McDowell- School Board #308 Candidate in 2013

Hi,

This is my first blog to announce my candidacy and also to let you know who I am and what I would like to see if I am elected to the School Board.

My primary goal is to foster an extrodinary educational system providing opportunities for our children to acheive greatness in this world. However, I want to balance that with financial resposibility. There are many challenges that will pop up along the way. I am an outcome focused type of person (I have to be as a health provider). If a something is not providing acceptable outcomes, it should be adapted or discontinued. That goes for programs, projects, and staff. If it is not successful in providing the outcome it was expected to produce, how is that going to add to extrordinary education. The kids are first but as I said, we need to keep costs reasonable. There may have to be hard decisions in the future. Unfortunately, everyone can't be happy. There is a finite source of money in the budget and only the best and most productive programs, projects, and staff should be kept. As in the rest of the private sector jobs. Oswego District #308 residents do not have endless resources and we need to understand that.

Please respond and ask questions as desired. Keep it professional and polite. We may have different ideas but we can discuss them in a polite manner.
