National Media Expert Karen Conti to Speak at NIU Law

NIU College of Law welcomes national media expert and commentator Karen Conti as she speaks on "Why Lawyers Should Talk to the Media."

DeKalb, Ill. -- Northern Illinois University College of Law will welcome national media expert and commentator Karen Conti as she speaks on “Why Lawyers Should Talk to the Media.”  This program will be held on Thursday, April 17 at 5 p.m. in the Francis X. Riley Courtroom at the College of Law, Swen Parson Hall in DeKalb, IL and will be followed by a reception. 

Karen Conti is a litigation partner at Beerman, Pritikin, Mirabelli, Swerdlove LLP in Chicago, IL. She has been a lawyer for 26 years, concentrating in all types of litigation – criminal, civil, and appellate.  She has litigated note-worthy cases both in Illinois and across the country in a wide variety of practice areas.   

Ms. Conti has extensive experience and contact with the local and national media. For 15 years, she has been the designated local Chicago Fox affiliate legal expert giving weekly commentary on diverse issues such as family law, business matters, criminal cases, and appellate decisions.  She has appeared on Good Morning America, The Bill O’Reilly Factor, Montel Williams, Leeza Gibbons, and other television programs.
 
Currently, Ms. Conti is a regular on Nancy Grace and does a weekly segment on CNN Newsroom with Don Lemon. She also has a weekly segment on WGN where she discusses current legal events and answers listeners’ questions.  For over 20 years, Ms. Conti hosted and produced radio talk shows including “Legally Speaking” on WGN for which she has won numerous awards including Achievement in Radio for Best Public Affairs and the Kogan Award. In addition, she writes a regular column (This Day in Legal History) for The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.

Ms. Conti received her B.A. degree in Political Science from Northern Illinois University and her J.D. degree from the University of Illinois College of Law.
