Frederick William Duncan Jr., 49, Had a Passion for Sport Bike Racing

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Nov. 20, followed by a memorial service.

Frederick William Duncan, Jr., 49. November 17, 2013; Born October 5, 1964 in Aurora, Illinois to Ethel Mae (nee Dotson) Weydert and the recently passed Frederick William Duncan, Sr.  After a brief illness Fred  held the throttle wide open and crossed the finish line like the champion he was.  

After hiding his first motorcycle from his mother under a tarp in the garage, Fred turned his lifelong love of motor sports into a championship he won as an expert amateur sport bike racer.  

He served as Director of NESBA (North East Sport Bike Association), which sponsored track days all over the Midwest teaching those with the need for speed how to race well and reach the finish line safely.

Under his leadership and calm guidance, many of his students reached champion status.  Fred was instrumental in organizing chili cook-off competitions to raise funds for safety barriers that protect riders in a crash, making safety his legacy to the sport.  

Fred is survived by his beloved cats TC (Too Cute) and Scooter, mother Ethel and close siblings Bonnie (Justin) Cowans and John Duncan; best friends Michelle Desmond, Jon & Kelly Fixmer; sisters Mandy (Lloyd) Yelton, Jeannie (Matt) Brusatori, Dawn Robinson, Paula (Greg) Kula, Linda (Dave) McCoy, Karen (Jack) Harding, Dana (Ray) Hankes; Debbie (Michael) Frieders and Jillian (Ronnie) Trimarco ; brothers  David McQuown, Tim Duncan and Brian Duncan; innumerable nieces, nephews, including great and great-great.  Also surviving is Brian Voga, his business partner in Sandwich Auto Works, and hundreds of friends in the brotherhood of sport bike racing.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from 3:00 PM until time of memorial service at 7:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Rd., Oswego, IL  60543.
