Obituary: In Loving Memory of Lois Elaine Cyr

Lois Elaine Cyr owned the Cyr Fur Farm for 20 years and worked at Aurora College, Aurora Area Blood Bank and Aurora Fast Freight.

Lois Elaine Cyr, age 85, of Sandwich, IL, formerly of Aurora, IL and Carbondale, CO, died Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich.

Lois was born on July 17, 1927 to the late Ted and Phyllis Seabrooke. She and her husband Don (U.S. Navy veteran) owned the Cyr Fur Farm for 20 years. She worked at Aurora Fast Freight, Aurora College and the Aurora Area Blood Bank.

Lois loved teaching children and taught Religious Education for almost 30 years, both in Aurora, IL and Carbondale, CO. During that time she wrote scripts about the Sacraments of the Catholic Church, which she performed with her two puppets, Beaver and Raccoon.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Don, who completed his journey in July, 2004, after 57 years of marriage. Lois is survived by their 8 children, David (Betty Anne) Cyr of Lombard, IL; Elaine (Jeff) Burns of South Bend, IN; Leslie (Michael) Franzen of Sheridan, IN; Donald (Cindy) Cyr of Yorkville, IL; Dennis (Georgia) Cyr of Oswego, IL; Corinne (Jerome) Shackleford of Aurora, IL; Louise “Liz” (Robert) Marshall of Tijeras, NM; and Phillip (Debbie) Cyr of Hagatna, Guam.She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

A gathering of family/friends will be on Wednesday, December 19th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Dunn Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 406 Walnut Street, in Yorkville, IL.

Cremation was accorded the wishes of the family, followed by entombment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL, where she will be placed next to her husband.

Mom came into this life full of delight and smiles and joy of life; she loved pleasing people and she loved carrying on her Mother’s tradition of singing in the choir. She left our world full of sparkle and delight and now she is singing in the heavenly choir.
