Education

As a parent and a teacher myself, I am wondering why so many teachers are being hired in District 308 that are right out of college? Why is the District not hiring veteran, experienced teachers too? I know that there are many experience, well-qualified teachers out of work who deserve to the chance to get back into the classroom and share their knowledge and expertise. I am not against new teachers having the opportunity to begin their careers, but it seems every school year there are more newer, younger first year teachers in the school than veteran teachers. The young teachers my kids have had have been wonderful and we have loved them, but my kids have loved their experienced teachers too? I feel there should be a mix amonget the staff because that creates for a diverse staff. What is the District's answer to this? I believe it is because newer teachers are less expensive than veteran teachers and the District has to stick to a budget. Although that makes sense, our school taxes are high enough to pay veteran, experienced teachers. We need to not discount the veteran teachers who have Master's Degree, diverse experiences because of money. Wondering if anyone else feels the same?
