Letter to the Editor: Pam Parr for Oswego Village is "Distressing"

An Oswego resident expresses concerns about candidate Pam Parr's conflict of interest and "dismal public record" on the County Board.

Dear Editor:

Pam Parr’s candidacy for Oswego Village Trustee is distressing. She has a gigantic conflict of interest and dismal public record.

She works full time for a sitting Village Trustee, Gail Johnson. If your boss were sitting on a Board with you, would you ever vote against him/her?  I think not.  For Gail Johnson to recruit Pam Parr is shameful. For Pam Parr to agree to be Ms. Johnson’s lackey on the Village Board is outrageous.

Pam Parr’s record on the County Board was abysmal.  A few examples are:

1. Supported the Ellis Farm acquisition, paying above market price to close friends of the Board Chair; Parr didn’t even suggest the Chair recuse herself from voting (an incriminating ethical lapse)—and later voted to keep operating despite heavy financial losses.

2. Voted for the Prairie Parkway which would have made certain local political “leaders” even wealthier than they are now.

3. Despite a dismal attendance record, she would cast votes beneficial to the “Old Kendall County Machine”, many of which contributed to our massive County foreclosure rates.

Hopefully, this shows who Pam Parr really is, i.e., beholden to special interests, inconsiderate of taxpayers, subservient to her full-time boss who is a Village Trustee, and one who finds no problems with ethical lapses or conflicts of interest.  After all, it’s just tax money, so who cares?  If you care reelect Jeff Lawson and Scott Volpe for Village Trustees.
